About Central Scotland Ballet School

Central Scotland Ballet School began life as a branch of the prestigious ‘Scottish Academy of Dance’. From humble beginnings with only 20 pupils, Mrs Jacqueline Clark has established 4 large branches with a roll of around 600 pupils. Her daughters, Amanda and Samantha, have become associate directors and teachers in the school, ensuring her high standards are maintained and keeping it a family business.

The School has now established a fine reputation as one of Scotland’s leading part-time ballet schools. Students are trained to the highest levels in Classical Ballet, studying the Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus. They complement their ballet lessons with expert professional tuition in other commercial dance styles, including Jazz, Acrobatics, Cheerleading, Tap, Hip-Hop and Musical Theatre, as well as courses with other professional dance schools and teachers.

We audition students annually for our 'Majors programme'. This scheme provides intensive training in classical ballet, following the demanding Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) vocational graded syllabus. Most of the students enhance their training by successfully auditioning for Associate schemes with Scottish Ballet and Ballet West, as well as attending holiday courses at dance colleges across the UK. We have had a number of students gain places at top full-time ballet schools.

Whether our students are hoping to follow a career in dance or just keep it as a hobby, we hope to provide them with skills they can use in all aspects of their lives.

I never grow tired of watching the children grow and develop into confident and happy young dancers. It is a constant joy and privilege to watch them perform and I take huge pride in all their achievements. I hope that my school can continue to give young dancers a sense of confidence, enjoyment and success over the next 25 years.

Jacqueline Clark RAD RTS , Director/Principal CSBS

In the future, we plan to further expand our scheme for talented young dancers and to incorporate musical theatre and contemporary dance into our regular programme of classes. We are also working in association with Scotland’s newest full-time dance school, Dance Academy, and our staff are being trained to deliver the SQA’s Higher Dance qualification.
