Andrew scoops dance scholarship!

CSBS senior dance student, Andrew Coleman, has been awarded a full scholarship to the Northern Ballet School.

Andrew (16) had filled his summer break with summer courses and performances including starring in the "GLEE Experience" at the Edinburgh Playhouse and a summer school with the Northern Ballet School.

On only the second day of the Northern Ballet School (NBS) course, he was asked if he would accept a full scholarship to train at the Manchester based school full-time. On his return home to Scotland, he discovered that he had also been awarded a part-scholarship to train full-time at the MGA Acdemy of Performing Arts in Edinburgh!

During the 3-year NBS course, he will train intensively in a range of dance styles including ballet, jazz and musical theatre and will graduate with a Diploma in Professional Dance.

Performing across Scotland and the world...

Andrew is a student on Majors ballet programme and recently passed his RAD Intermediate ballet exam with Merit. He also studies Grade 6 ballet, jazz, tap and modern and is a member of LAMP Children's Theatre as well as being a Senior Associate on the Aspiring Professional programme with Ballet West. He is also the only boy in our Starshine cheer squad!

Andrew has performed across Scotland with Ballet West ('Nutcracker', 'Romeo and Juliet' Scottish tour). With Central Scotland Ballet School he has performed at a wide range of events in Stirling, Glasgow and Falkirk including dancing the role of "The Sorcerer" in our ballet adaptation of 'Aladdin'. He has danced as part of a hip-hop crew in Portaventura (Spain) and  was dance captain for LAMP's 2010 production of "42nd Street". In 2009, he danced the role of 'Older Billy' in the Scottish amateur premiere of "Billy Elliot: The Musical" as part of the UK Billy Youth Festival.

We will miss him...

Andrew is a popular member of our classes and his unique sense of humour will be greatly missed! We are sorry that we were unable to say a proper goodbye at the displays but wish him all the best for his future as a dancer.

Good luck Andrew!
