Awards for excellence in exams
We are delighted to present annual awards for excellence in dance exams...
We present the 'Vicki Paterson Awards for Excellence' annual awards to students who have gained the highest marks in their dance exams over the year. The award is named after former CSBS student Vicki Paterson who gained a perfect 100% for her RAD Grade 4 ballet exam as well as consistently scoring over 90% in all her dance examinations. Vicki went on to become a professional ballet dancer after graduating from full-time training.
Junior Shield
The Junior Award for Excellence was presented to Jill Russell. Jill (7) gained an impressive 90% for her RAD Grade One ballet exam in November. Jill studies ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics and is also a junior associate with Ballet West. She also recently performed with the Russian State Ballet in "Sleeping Beauty". We look forward to watching her progress!
Senior Shield
The Senior Award for Excellence was presented jointly to Sarah Firth and Lucy Hutton. Sarah (14) gained 89% for her RAD Grade 4 ballet exam in the Spring session as well as Distinction for her Intermediate Foundation level in November. Sarah studies ballet, jazz, tap and acrobatics, and is both a student in our Majors Programme and a member of our competitive dance team, Starshine Elite. She was also the 2017 winner of our Millennium Trophy.
Lucy (17) also gained 89% for her Grade 8 Award from the Royal Academy of Dance in March, as well as achieving Distinction for her Advanced 1 ballet exam in June only days after an intensive dance display run! Lucy was a Scottish Ballet Associate and is now in full time training at Northern Ballet School. We were delighted to have her visit and receive the award alongside Sarah.
Many congratulations to the girls for their effort and determination and to all of our 533 dance exam candidates who worked extremely hard to pass their dance exams last year. We had 40% of graded candidates gain Distinction. Please have a look at our exam news and results:
