Dance Prescription with Dr Lisa Ellis

Dance Prescription with Dr Lisa Ellis

We were very excited to host a Dance Presecription workshop with world renowned dance specialist Dr Lisa Ellis!

The workshop was part of her "Just What the Doctor Ordered" UK tour and we were delighted to welcome dancers of all abilities from across the Central Belt to our Edinburgh workshop. Dr. Lisa Ellis is a Junior Doctor in Melbourne, Australia, but also a highly experienced dance coach specialising in jazz technique, classical ballet and ballet conditioning. With a focus on injury prevention, she teaches dancers to love themselves and celebrate the incredible feats their bodies are able to perform.

Building both skills and confidence

This positive technique was evident throughout our workshop as the shy Scottish dancers became more and more confident throughout the session as they mastered kicks, leaps and turns, and even finished with hugely confident and expressive improvisations.

During the workshop, Dr Ellis was assisted by an amazing little team of Australian dancers who were able to demonstrate with outstanding technique, expressive performance, and obvious delight and enjoyment. The whole workshop was a very positive experience for everyone involved and our dancers and teachers left feeling very inspired! Please have a look through a gallery of photos on our CSBS Facebook page!
