Epic Spring Exam session!

Wow… what a week we had in our 2024 Spring Exam session! With a total of 639 candidates sitting exams, tests, and awards in ballet, tap, jazz, and acrobatics… Our largest session to date!

ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCE BALLET EXAMINATIONS

Our RAD ballet exams were conducted over 4.5 days and are being submitted to the exam board by video. We had 116 candidates sitting exams from Primary Grade right up to Grade 8 this session, including 8 dancers sitting their Vocational graded exams at Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced Foundation levels, and 9 dancers sitting a Solo Performance Award! Over 24 hours of footage has been submitted to the exam board ready for an International examiner to assess the candidates. We hope to receive the results in approx. 4 weeks.

PRE-PRIMARY CLASS TEST

We also had 30 little dancers sit their Pre-Primary Class Test, a CSBS class award based on the RAD Pre-Primary syllabus. It was a great introduction to a ballet exam experience and the children all performed really well.

INTERNATIONAL DANCE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION EXAMS AND AWARDS

We had 2 very full days of IDTA exams and awards. On the first day we welcomed examiner Mr Meeson to examine our 39 graded tap and Contemporary Jazz candidates as well as 14 Stardance award candidates. He gave us very positive feedback and the children absolutely loved his friendly and encouraging manner during their examinations… everyone came out buzzing! We should receive the results in approx. 3 weeks time.

Our second day of IDTA exams was a VERY busy day of Rosette and Stardance Awards.

We had 260 condidates aged 4-8 enter for Rosette Awards in ballet, tap, acro and jazz as well as another 77 candidates sitting Stardance Awards in jazz, tap, ballet, and acrobatics!

This was a challenging day to coordinate and we must thank dancers Charlie, Freya, Georgia, Harry, and Rachel who supported our teachers throughout the day.

These exams were filmed and submitted to the exam board the same day by video; the footage is being examined on 20 March, and we hope to receive the results in approx. 3 weeks time.

BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF TEACHERS OF DANCING MEDALS

Our BATD acrobatics exam day was delayed when the examiner arrived an hour late, however, the team of teachers and assistant Chloe ensured that the rest of the day ran as smoothly as possible in spite of the disruption to the timetable. The 103 candidates from First Steps right up to British Award levels did very well on the day and we hope to receive the results in around 3 weeks.

You can view a full gallery of photos of our candidates on our CSBS Facebook page, as well as a few behind-the-scenes photos too. Huge thanks to our team of teachers for their extra effort in managing such a busy week so well.
