Little stars sparkle at Tryst

The little dancers from our Braes branch staged a wonderful dance show as part of the 2018 Tryst Festival.

"Wish Upon a Star" showcased their skills in ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics and cheer routines and was inspired by the magic of childhood fairytales. Around 140 little dancers aged 3-7 took to the Falkirk Town Hall stage as part of the local Tryst Festival, a celebration of the Arts in Falkirk.

Joining the little dancers in the display were the Senior Elite team who performed a stunning prize winning jazz routine, and our Majors ballet students who premiered their new ballet "Annie". We also had our 2018 Millennium Trophy winner Jill (9) perform one of the solos she had choreographed herself, and Senior dancer Sarah (15) performed a medal winning jazz routine which was also her own choreography. Some of our class helpers performed little cameo roles alongside the junior dancers too... with teacher Amanda even taking on the role of the Teddy in 'Teddy Bear's Picnic'!

You can view a few photos taken from the wings on our CSBS Facebook page:

This show was a new venture and is usually part of our main display run in June. We were nervous and excited about staging a show at a new time and in a new venue but it worked out really well with the children loving their time onstage.

Thank you to everyone involved...

We have huge thanks firstly to the class teachers for their hard work over the past 6 weeks in preparing the children for their display. They have been assisted by our wonderful class helpers who volunteer their time to help with the junior classes and were backstage to help their little friends with their costumes and routines.

The technical team at FTH were outstanding and provided a stunning backdrop of lighting for our dancers. Backstage, a team of chaperones (parents of the Majors students) assisted by class helpers, CSBS teachers, and Senior students, all worked hard to ensure the children managed all their costume changes and stayed happy during their time in the busy dressing rooms.

Many thanks to everyone who made a donation for a programme, or put a donation in the collection buckets after the show. You helped raise £301 for charity. We will be making donations throughout the year in support of local and national good causes.

Professional photos and video

Once again Cameron from Leask Photography took photographs during the dress rehearsal. These beautiful images will be available to view on the Leask Photography website using the password provided at the display.

We had a new company take video of this performance, 1StudioVideo Productions will be creating a short behind-the-scenes video for us, as well as a DVD of the show. You can purchase a copy of the DVD from our shop and it should be ready at the beginning of July.

For now... you can enjoy a quick timelapse video of our rehearsal!

Finally, thank you all for your support over the display... We hope you and your little dancers thoroughly enjoyed it!
