Starshine leaps back into competitions!

Our CSBS Starshine Elite dance team were delighted to be back on stage for their first live event in almost 2 years...

The dancers travelled to the SEC in Glasgow for the Can You Dance? Scotland Convention. Due to Covid restrictions, this was their first live event since March 2020, and they took part in a wide range of dance masterclasses with top UK tutors, watched a performance showcase, and competed in a stage performance too.

The team competed in the Senior category with many former members now left for university and the former Juniors now in the Senior age group category, it was their first time competing and performing in this group. Other challenges included dancers missing rehearsals due to isolation, and dancers missing the pevent due to Covid. However, they have been working extremely hard since the beginning of term and their performance choreographed by coach Claire gained them THIRD PLACE in a very impressive section! An outstanding achievement!

During the dance masterclasses, tutors picked out students to demonstrate, or to award certificates for excellence. Many congratulations to the following dancers:

  • Gracie Stevens: Selected during Jazz for part scholarship for CYD Intensive
  • Hannah Firth: Selected in Musical Theatre Jazz and awarded Hardest Worker certificate
  • Saoirse Homan: Selected during Jazz for part scholarship for CYD Intensive
  • Sophie Leonard: Selected during Adam Scott workshop and awarded month free membership to CYD TV

Well done too to the other CSBS students who attended the event to add to their dance experience and training!

We have a get-well-soon shoutout for dancer Robyn who damaged her ankle landing from a beautiful split leap after her solo section. We hope it heals quickly and send a huge group hug.

New teams...

Auditions for our 2021/22 team were held at the beginning of September and we look forward to following the success of the new Junior and Senior squads over the coming year.
