Lucy starts at Northern Ballet School

Advanced dancer Lucy Hutton is beginning her professional dance training at Northern Ballet School...!

Lucy (17) successfully auditioned for the full-time dance college in Manchester and will complete a 3 year Diploma course. In 2011, CSBS student Andrew began his trainging at Northern, and is now a professional dancer working around the world.

Lucy has trained with with Central Scotland Ballet School for 14 years and we are delighted that she has chosen to follow a career in dance. With CSBS she has achieved great success in exams, auditions and competitions across the UK including being overall winner at the RAD Junior Awards Day, and also winning the RAD Genée Dance Challenge at the age of 12. Following that win, she was invited to London to perform her solo as a guest artist at the prestigious Phyllis Bedell's Bursary event. Lucy was also a member of our successful Starshine Elite dance team and a successful gymnast. She has also performed across the UK including the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony in 2014.

She was also a Scottish Ballet Associate and a dancer in our Majors ballet programme. She is our first student to sit the new Vocational exams with the RAD, and has passed every RAD exam from Pre-Primary to Grade 8, and Intermediate Foundation to Advanced Foundation and Advanced One gaining Distinction in EVERY exam!!! Quite a remarkable achievement!

Lucy was a student in our Majors Programme for 8 years and portrayed many principal roles in our annual ballet productions including:

  • White Rabbit in 'Alice in Wonderland' 2009
  • Chip in 'Beauty and the Beast' 2012
  • Cinderella in 'Cinderella' 2013
  • Dr Tumnus in 'Narnia' 2015
  • Aladdin in 'Aladdin' 2016
  • Charlie Bucket in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' 2017

She was also selected to perform a pas de deux with the Russian State Ballet in our collaborative performance of 'The Nutcracker' in 2016.

Lucy is a quiet and popular dancer with a bubbly sense of humour who always worked extremely hard in lessons but showed great humility. She will be dearly missed in both our classes, and in our annual dance displays.

What better way to wish her luck than to quote her class mates... "We LOVE Lucy!!!"
