Olivia begins full-time training

CSBS Majors students Olivia has begun full time ballet training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland...

Olivia Hunter successfully auditioned for a coveted place to study at for a degree in Modern Ballet at the RCS. Olivia has been studying ballet, jazz and tap with CSBS for 7 years and in that time has achieved excellent results in exams, competitions and performances. She has also been a class assistant in preschool and pre-primary ballet classes... much loved by our little dancers!

Excellence in exams

Most recently Olivia gained Distinction for her Grade 8 Award with the Royal Academy of Dance, following a Distinction for both Grade 7 and Intermediate. Impressively, she has gained distinction for all her RAD exams with CSBS and been listed as one of our highest marks each time!

Olivia has also been in the mids and senior associate scheme with both Scottish Ballet and the RCS, supplememting her training here with weekly sessions in Glasgow.

Competition success

Olivia competed in the Terpsichore of the North Russian Ballet Competition in 2018 and 2019 (unfortunately the 2020 competition was cancelled due to Covid but she had qualified for the finals). In 2018 she won the Grand Prix for best overall, then in 2019 she won Gold in the Teen section and was also awarded the Special Commendation Medal for her performance in the Masterclass with Maestro Akhundov. On both occasions she was invited to perform her classical solo and repertoire as part of a ballet gala.

She has represented CSBS at the Royal Academy of Dance Senior Awards Days in Edinburgh and also won gold at the Showcase Events competition.

Olivia has been awarded prizes for progress in her class at our end of year awards, including receiving the overall trophy for progress in our Linlithgow branch.

Performances

Olivia has performed with CSBS across Scotland including many dance displays at Macrobert Arts Centre; Festival of Remembrance events at Falkirk Town Hall; Go Dance at Theatre Royal Glasgow; Festive Light Switch On (The Nutcracker) outdoor performace in Falkirk Town Centre; alongside Pasha Kovalev in his UK tour; and with the Russian State Ballet at Carnegie Hall Dunfermline. She performed the solo role of a Princess in "Swan Lake" with the Russian State Ballet.

Closer to home, Olivia has also been part of Generation Ballet, a project taking ballet into local Care Homes where she danced with residents and performed too.

We look forward to following her career and wish her all the best with her training!
