RAD Senior Award success

We had a wonderful day at the 2017 RAD Senior Awards Day in Edinburgh!

Seven dancers from CSBS were selected to take part in the day which saw almost 120 young dancers compete in ballet classes taught by Birmingham Royal Ballet dancer, Iain Mackay, and judged by Dance School of Scotland director, Kenn Burke. As well as the ballet class, the dancers also got the opportunity to do workshops in commercial dance, pogessing ballet technique, and repertoire.

Representing CSBS were:

  • Intermediate Foundation (class 1): Ailey Meikle, Ailish Ogilvie, Olivia Hunter
  • Intermediate Foundation (class 2): Anna Bremner, Hollie Crooks
  • Advanced: Katy Russell, Laura McTeague

Principal of CSBS, Mrs Clark, was in the audience throughout the day with other RAD teachers, and she was very proud and imprssed by the technique shown by our students in their class work at each level.

Awards presentation

At the end of the day, the dancers were each presented with certificates before prizes were awarded for each level as well as for musicality and performance. Many congratulations to Ailish Ogilvie who won the trophy for her class, and also to Hollie Crooks who was the runner-up in her class! The overall prize for the event was awarded to advanced student Ellis Derrick from Linda Lowry School of Ballet. Ellis will be competing in the Genee International Ballet Competition later this month and it was wonderful to see her dance. We send her lots of luck from everyone at CSBS!
