It's Time to Shine at the Tryst

We performed "It's Time to Shine" in the 2016 Tryst Festival at Falkirk Town Hall...

The show was our first ever production as part of the Tryst Festival and it featured our acrobatics students alongside our Starshine Cheer and Dance teams in two performances. Around one hundred and sixty dancers aged 7-18 performed routines in acrobatics, lyrical jazz, hip-hop and cheer with glittering new costumes, and a very enthusiastic audience!

We had made the decision to try 'something new' with our displays given that our usual venue, Macrobert Arts Centre, has now limited the number of performers allowed backstage, and to give audience the opportunity to see the competition teams perform. If you watched the show, or were involved backstage or onstage, please give us your feedback to help us plan for next year's dance display run; click here to complete a short survey.

Dance World Cup finalists

We delighted to be able to showcase our Dance World Cup finalists in the show. Serena McCall will be representing Scotland in a number of categories including classical ballet (she won best classsical solo in the heats!), while Dayna and Laura will be representing Team Scotland for hip-hop. They travel to Jersey in July to compete alongside over 3000 competitors from 37 different countries!!! Serena performed a lyrical jazz solo in the display, while Dayna and Laura performed the original version of their duet.

European Championship qualifiers

Also performing in the show were the Starshine Junior Elite team who will be travelling to Vienna in July to compete at the ECU European Championships having qualified at Scotcheer in January! They performed their bid winning jazz routine, "Best Thing I Never Had" in the show. Dayna and Laura also qualified for hip-hop at the Championships too and have a busy summer ahead!

You can view some photos taken from the wings at each performance on our CSBS Facebook page:

Professional photos from the dress rehearsal will be available to view when our other dance display photos are published in June. See Leask Photography for details.

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone involved for your support and hard work, especially the teachers involved in preparing the children for a show almost a month earlier than usual; Diane Dagger (acro), Claire McAlister (cheer), Sammy and Amanda Clark (acro), Kiera Paterson (mini cheer). Thanks too to the other CSBS staff who worked hard backstage at each display. Now we need to get ready for our next 8 performances of "Going Global" in June!
