Winter exam session over!

Our winter exam session saw 170 students sitting exams in ballet and tap at all levels...

One hundred and forty five students entered for ballet examinations with the Royal Academy of Dance from Pre-Primary to Grade 7 level over 4 full days. We had 22 little stars sit their Pre-Primary in Dance Class Award, the very first level of the RAD exam syllabus, as well as 6 students enter for a Solo Performance Award at Grades 2, 3 and 4. A special well done to our only Vocational candidate this session, Christiana, sitting her Intermediate examination.

Another 24 students sat their graded tap exam from Grades 1 to 6 with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. A special mention must go to our Grade 4 candidates who were the first from CSBS to sit the exam in the revised Grade 4 syllabus. You can view a gallery of photos of our exam candidates on our CSBS Facebook page.

Results are due around 18 December... Keep your fingers and toes crossed!

Rainbow Week celebrations!

To celebrate the end of the exam session and remind everyone that dance is fun as well as hard work, we had a fun fundraising week of classes. For "Rainbow Week", each day of classes was allocated a colour and students came to class dressed up in their colour and enjoyed non-syllabus classes which friends and family were encouraged to join in too. You can see a great gallery of photos on our CSBS Facebook page.

Some of the Saturday classes also enjoyed workshops with guest tutor Katie Deacon and learned repertoire from modern musicals and classical ballets.

We don't yet have a total but it looks like we will have raised over £900 which will go into our CSBS Dance Fund to help subsidise events, equipment and rehearsals. Now we are all back to hard work preparing for our end of year parents days and prize givings!
