That’s Showbiz! for Braes dancers

Our fifth and final performance in our run of dance displays was a performance of “That’s Showbiz!” by our Braes branch. Around 230 dancers from our Braes branch dance classes took to the Macrobert Arts Centre stage showcasing dazzling routines in ballet, jazz, tap, acrobatics, lyrical and musical theatre for an audience of over 400 family and friends in each performance.

JUNIOR BRANCH DISPLAY

The students were split across two different performances with 100 Junior dancers aged 2-8 from our Braes branch joining 55 little dancers from our Linlithgow branch in a matinée show with additional guest performances by our Majors students and Junior Elite dance team. All the little ones did extremely well with a really smooth dress rehearsal followed by a brilliant performance. Huge thanks to the class assistants who helped them both in class, onstage and backstage.

CSBS dance teacher Amanda took photos during both the rehearsal and then from the wings during the performance. You can view them on our CSBS Facebook page:

MAIN BRANCH DISPLAY

Another 140 mids and senior level students aged 9-17 performed in the evening show. The dancers attend weekly classes in community venues in the Upper Braes area and had spent 8 weeks preparing for the display after the Easter break. They performed a really varied selection of routines to a soundtrack from the stage and screen in an array of glittering costumes.

As well as the group routines, the audience also enjoyed a lyrical duet by Millennium trophy winner Hannah Firth and partner Chloe Murray, (the pair won highest points jazz in our annual choreography competition, and the Scottish Championships the week before the show); a pointe solo by Advanced dancer Jill Russell (highest points for ballet in CSBS Choreography Competition); and a guest ballet performance by former student Anna Bremner.

At the end of the show, we had a number of tearful goodbyes behind the curtains as it was the final CSBS show for many of our senior dancers.

As above, you can view Amanda’s photos on our CSBS Facebook page:

Many congratulations to all our Braes branch dancers for excellent performances! We must thank the Brightons Village Hall committee and Maddiston Community Centre for their continued support, and everyone who helped us stage these shows for their help in classes, rehearsals and backstage. Thanks also to our Braes evening show audience for raising a staggering £731 for charity through their programme donations and bucket collections!
