A touching Remembrance performance
Nine students performed a unique dance piece as part of a Festival of Remembrance in Livingston.
The Festival of Remembrance organised by the Livingston Branch of the Royal Bristish Legion Scotland included entertainment by local groups and a formal service to reflect on the sacrifices made by brave Service men and women.
Emotional and touching performance
Eight of the nine young dancers had taken part in a short October holiday course to create and choreograph a dance piece combining ballet and contemporary dance with a sound track of songs, music, poetry and speeches. entitled "A New Tomorrow", it touched on past conflicts, working together and a look to the future. The girls also had costumes designed and created for them by Mrs Clark and Amanda. Amanda also arranged the music, choreography and hairstyles!
Unfortunately, Jennifer was unable to perform due to an injury but her place was filled at the last minute by Christina who had to learn the entire piece in around 1 hour! The dancers were:
- Olivia Cullen, Melissa Krycant, Rebecca Latto,
- Anna McEwan, Emma McTeague, Kiera Paterson,
- Ailsa Robertson, Nicola Thomson
- Christina McCall, (Jennifer Laffan)
We were delighted that the audience really enjoyed the piece and the dancers received sustained applause. We have received comments such as "very moving", "very fitting", "outstanding" and "I couldn't believe it was so emotional!".
