Choreography Competition 2010

Our annual Choreography Competition was a sparkling day of tutus, twirling, tapping and some very cool dance moves...!

Fifty-five dancers from Central Scotland Ballet School, aged 5-19, took part in the annual event, performing solos, duets and group dances onstage. They had choreographed their own routines in ballet, pointe, character, jazz, hip-hop, tap and acrobatics.

We were delighted to welcome as judges, former CSBS student Justine Lim (BA Hons Dance), Anne McEwan (Denny Dance Academy/JazzArt UK) and CSBS teacher Diane Dagger. They were very impressed by the extremely high standard shown in all the categories.

Trophy winners

The Millennium Trophy for the most outstanding performer of the day was awarded to Kristina Lowe (14) (pictured above with Mrs Clark). The "Spirit of Dance Award", was won by Andrew Coleman (15).

Prize winners

Every competitor was presented with a certificate from CSBS Director Mrs Clark, for each routine they had performed. Section winners were presented with medals from the judges. Mrs Clark and the CSBS staff were extremely impressed by the effort the students had put into their routines and by the sense of performance they showed. However, the number of entries was lower than usual, and we hope that next year, more people will take part.
