Choreography Competition 2013
We were very excited to hold our 2013 dance competition in Falkirk Town Hall as part of the Tryst Festival...
With only 40 dancers taking part this year, they proved that it is quality and not quantity that matters ans they performed solos, duets and group dances onstage. They had choreographed their own routines in ballet, pointe, character, jazz, tap and acrobatics with their own choice of music and costumes.
We were delighted to welcome as judges, Eilidh McRae (Dance teacher SYT and Dance Connections), Dianne Inglis (Director, Dynamic Dance Co.), and Alana Grant (MGA Academy). They were very impressed by the enthusiasm and technique shown in all the categories across all the age groups as well as some of the more imaginative ideas and beautiful costumes.
Medal winners and certificates
Mrs Clark, Director of Central Scotland Ballet School, presented every competitor with a certificate for each routine they had performed. In total, 78 certificates were presented! The judges then awarded 5 second-place medals and 38 first-place medals, including duets and groups.
Trophy winners
The Millennium Trophy for the most outstanding performer of the day was awarded to Serena McCall (9). The "Spirit of Dance Award" for musicality and performance was awarded to Anya Phillips (9). (Both girls pictured above with the judging panel)

Many thanks to everyone who supported the event, including the students, parents, friends and staff who just came along to watch. Thanks also to our judges who gave up their Sunday and Christine, Grieg and Heather at Falkirk Town Hall for being so helpful. We are really happy that everyone seemed to enjoy the experience and are already excited about next year!
