Dancers set sail...
A group of 16 young dancers from CSBS set sail from Venice onboard MSC Poesia to perform across the Meditteranean.
The dancers, aged 10-17, were accompanied by family and friends as they took part in a 'holiday of a lifetime'. Fundraising and rehearsing for the trip had been very demanding but the girls kept smiling and staged 4 fabulous performances. The theatre, which sat 1200, was packed for their performances and the audience response was thrilling. (Even the dads had their photos taken by random passengers who were amazed by their kilts!)
The girls performed two different numbers - "Symphony of the Seas" and "Rock'n'Roll".
The 10 minute symphony was choreographed by Amanda-Louise Clark and began with a restful contemporary ballet sequence in the waves. The peace was broken by ferocious pirates who were soon scared off by the young comical sailors. It ended with a stunning sailors hornpipe. The Rock number, choreographed by Samantha Clark, used a medley of songs from the hit musical 'Hairspray' and combined jive, jazz, ballet and acrobatics for a lively and colourful routine... with a cameo apperance by Amanda!
Well done to everyone who was involved... now when's the next trip?!?
