Fun at our Barbie™ Ballet class

We were delighted to welcome nearly 80 little ballerinas to our special Barbie™ Ballet class...

The classes took place on Sunday 17 March and were inspired by the new DVD movie, "Barbie in the Pink Shoes". Only 30 classes took place across the UK and ours was one of only 4 in Scotland.

Each class began with telling the story followed by a warm up and learning a dance sequence. The dancers then worked together to create their own scenery before learning some special jumps, leaps and spins just like the star of the film. Finally, it was all put together for a short performance to the excited audience of parents. Every dancer received a personalised Barbie certificate.

Many thanks to Christina, Dayna and Nicola for helping in the classes and Hayley for managing the registration.

Competition

The short performances were filmed as part of a national competition by the Royal Academy of Dance and Universal Pictures. Each video entered into the competition will be judged by a panel, including the RAD President, Darcey Bussell. The winning group will be invited to perform at the RAD AGM on 18 April in front of an audience of dancers and dance teachers from across the globe... including Darcey Bussell!

We are keeping our fingers and toes crossed!

Lots of pink...

You can view photos from the classes on our Facebook page (there are 2 galleries)... There was LOTS of pink!

Cameron from Leask Photography was also there and the little stars were very excited to get their photo taken with their certificate and our own beautiful ballerina Christina and her sparkly pink shoes. The portraits and Cameron's class photos are available to buy at www.leask.org with proceeds toward our dance display costume fund.
