'Mary Poppins' tours Scotland!
Our Majors students have performed their short ballet adaptation of "Mary Poppins" across Scotland!
Each year, we create a short ballet for our Majors students to allow them to showcase their skills as well as learn what it is like to be part of a company such as experiencing quick changes, acting through dance and dancing as a character. This year, they performed 'Mary Poppins' which was based on the Disney film.
Dancing across Scotland
The ballet was first performed as part of our annual dance displays in the Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling before our second weekend of shows in the Alhmabra Theatre, Dunfermline, which is the 4th largest stage in Scotland. The students took part in a total of 4 dress/technical rehearsals and 7 performances! They also danced in a wide range of ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics and cheer routines.
That same weekend, the students staged the ballet outdoors as part of the 'Get Scotland Dancing' weekend at Dancebase in Edinburgh. It was a brilliant fun performance with some of the dancers only a step away from the crowds who gathered to watch under Edinburgh Castle! Go Dance 14
The final performance of the season was at the prestigious Theatre Royal in Glasgow as part of the 'Go Dance 14' festival. This was our 8th performance in Go Dance and we were delighted to be invited again to be part of Scotland's biggest dance festival alongside dance groups from across the country. You can view a small gallery of backstage photos on our CSBS Facebook page.
A very big congratulations and thank you to all the cast and their parents for their effort, commitment and hard work to create a fantastic performance!
