Our Mediterranean Cruise performers
A group of 18 young CSBS dance students enjoyed a holiday with a difference onboard MSC Sinfonia...
The girls had the amazing experience of performing onboard as part of the professional entertainment!
The Cruise Experience
Joining the girls on their Cruise Experience holiday were their families and CSBS staff. They were all able to enjoy a fabulous holiday visiting Rome, Salerno, Tunisia, Ibiza, Palma and Marseille scheduled around their rehearsals and performances in the theatre. We also had our own cocktail party, a chance to meet the professional cast, our own area of the restaurant and lots of fun by the pool and in the disco.
It wasn't exactly all smooth sailing... Our first performance was during an unexpected storm at sea and we had dancers being very seasick before, during and after the performance! We also took our Scottish summer weather to Tunis in North Africa where it was cold with torrential rain!
The dancers performed 2 different dance pieces over 4 shows. The routines had been specially choreographed for the Cruise - "Lion King Celebration" was choreographed by Sammy Clark and fused together African, jazz, contemporary and ballet dance styles to music from 'Legend of the Lion King'. It also had some incredibly quick costume changes! Amanda Clark choreographed the dramatic "Cirque" which was inspired by the Circus and Cirque du Soleil and showcased the girl's ballet, tap, acrobatic and hip-hop skills.
