Ailish starts Theatre course

CSBS Advanced dancer Ailish Ogilvie (17) has her sight set on stardom as she begins her full-time training at Hamilton Theatre Arts where she will gain a Diploma in Musical Theatre. Ailish has been a student with CSBS since the age of 3 and already has an impressive CV!

During her 14 years at CSBS she studied ballet, acrobatics, jazz and tap as well as being a member of our Majors programme which will set her in good stead for training in all dance disciplines, singing, and acting at college. We’re highlighting some of her achievements below…

EXAMS AND ASSOCIATE SCHEMES…

  • Pre-Primary to Grade 7 RAD Ballet with Distinctions

  • Vocational grades Inter Foundation to Advanced with Distinctions

  • BATD Acrobatics Bronze-Silver levels with Honours

  • ISTD tap grades 1-4 with Distinctions; IDTA Silver tap with Honours

  • Scottish Ballet Associates at Mids and Senior levels (2016-2022)

  • SQA Higher Dance with A (with Scottish Ballet)

PERFORMANCES…

  • Performed the lead role of Clara in the Scottish Ballet tour of “Nutcracker” 2017/18 in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle

  • Performed in a number of Majors ballet productions including the lead roles of Annie in ‘Annie’, and Cowardly Lion in ‘Wizard of Oz’

  • Performed in CSBS & Russian State Ballet collaboration in “Nutcracker” as soloist Chinese Dancer.

  • Member of Falkirk Youth Theatre in many productions, with many lead roles including ‘Fame the Musical’, ‘Legally Blonde’, and ‘Footloose’

  • Performed in Festival of Remembrance Falkirk

  • Performed in the Pasha Kovlev UK tour as ensemble dancer

  • Go Dance at Theatre Royal Glasgow

COMPETITION AND AWARDS SUCCESS…

  • Vicki Paterson Shield for Excellence 2021

  • Represented CSBS at RAD Junior and Senior awards days winning the Caroline Newlands Award (2016), Inter Foundation winner (2017), Terry Darke Award for musicality (2018)

  • Choreography competition medal winner over many years, including overall Spirit of Dance Award 2017.

  • Gold medallist across Scottish Festivals for ‘song and dance’, 2017

  • Attended Project dance 2017-2020 and Star Performer awards

As well as all of this, Ailish has been a wonderful class assistant over many years, helping with preschool and junior classes and events. She particularly enjoyed performing as a “real mermaid” for our preschool ‘Under the Sea’ theme, and a “real ballerina princess” for their Magic Castle theme.
