Academy training in London for Sarah

Senior dancer Sarah Firth will be training full-time at Wilkes Academy of Performing Arts in London...

Sarah (17) was awarded a scholarship on the Diploma course and will be studying on the BA Hons Musical Theatre degree course at the London based Wilkes Academy following her 14 years at Central Scotland Ballet School. She was able to choose from a range of offers having been awarded a place at each of the colleges at which she auditioned including Laine Theatre Arts and London Studio Centre.

Successful and accomplished dancer

Sarah is a hard working and popular senior student who has gained consistently strong exams results in all styles, winning our Vicki Paterson Shield for Excellence twice for the highest exam marks. She studies ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics at Advanced levels and is also a member of both our Majors programme and Starshine Elite dance team. As a performer, Sarah has danced with CSBS across Scotland including prestigious events such as Go Dance, the Pasha Kovalev UK Tour, Festival of Remembrance, Big Burns Bash (Falkirk), and as both a corps de ballet and soloist in productions with the Russian State Ballet. She has represented CSBS at the Royal Academy of Dance Awards days at both Junior and Senior levels. Sarah has been awarded many CSBS prizes for progress over the years, and has also won the Millennium Trophy and countless medals at our annual Choreography Competition, performing a number of solos in our summer displays.

As a competitive dancer with our CSBS Starshine Elite team, she has won countless group, duet and solo awards and titles across the UK, currently holding the title of World Lyrical Dance Federation Under 18 Scottish Champion. She was part of the team to represent Scotland at the 2016 European Championships in Vienna and has also been awarded a number of awards and scholarships at Can You Dance? Conventions across the UK. Sarah successfully auditioned for the Dane Bates Collective alongside dancers drawn from across the UK.

Sarah has volunteered as a class assistant with CSBS and is much loved by the younger students, particularly when she performed as a mermaid in preschool! In addition, she volunteered as part of our 'Generation Ballet' project to take ballet into local care homes.

We are very sorry not to be able to showcase Sarah's wonderful dance talents in her final display with CSBS due to the Covid-19 situation, but hope to see her back onstage soon! In the meantime, here is a lovely video compiled by Elite team coach Claire with some of Sarah's competition rehearsal and performance events.

We wish her all the best for her training and look forward to following her career!
