Choreography Competition 2012
From charleston to hip-hop and pirates to princesses, our 2012 Choreography Competition certainly had variety!
Sixty-eight young dancers aged 7-17, performed solos, duets and group dances onstage. They had choreographed their own routines in ballet, pointe, character, jazz, tap and acrobatics with their own choice of music and costumes.
We were delighted to welcome as judges, Eilidh McRae (Dance teacher SYT and Dance Connections), Olivia McLay (CSBS Vocational Tap Teacher), and CSBS acrobatics teacher Diane Dagger. They were very impressed by the consistently high standard shown in all the categories across all the age groups and the range of imaginative and creative ideas and costumes.
Medal winners and certificates
Every competitor was presented with a certificate for each routine they had performed. In total, 116 certificates were presented by CSBS Principal, Mrs Clark. The judges then awarded 12 second-place medals and 35 first-place medals.
Trophy winners
The Millennium Trophy for the most outstanding performer of the day was awarded jointly to sisters Serena McCall (8) and Christina McCall (15)(pictured above). The "Spirit of Dance Award" for musicality and performance was awardeded to Sarah MacNeill (14). (All girls pictured below with the judging panel)

Many thanks to everyone who supported the event, including the students, parents, friends and staff who just came along to watch. Thanks also to our judges who gave up their Sunday and to Mairi at Braes High for being so helpful. Mrs Clark, Sammy and Amanda are delighted that so many people took part and are already excited about next year!
