Commonwealth Games opening ceremony!
Twenty-two of our dancers joined pop stars Amy MacDonald and Rod Stewart onstage in the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2014!
The young dancers, aged 9-16, joined CSBS teacher Amanda-Louise Clark in the "People Make Glasgow" sequence at Celtic Park in front of an audience of 40,000 people on Wednesday 23 July 2014. They had been rehearsing intensively in the weeks before the ceremony and were very excited about performing alongside the celebrities! The performance was in front of the 100m wide screen and included a film from George Square with Amy MacDonald singing with the people of Glasgow.
Other sections of the ceremony included giant tunnocks teacakes, the Loch Ness monster, and a procession of athletes lead by Scotty dogs! The whole event was broadcast across the world to an estimated audience of 1.5 billion people!

After the opening section, we all joined the mass ceilidh around the athletes with flashing tambourines in hand and fireworks overhead. At the end of the number, we we told over our headsets to stay on the field and then got to take photos and dance with the athletes who were just as excited as we were! Everyone performed brilliantly and even featured in some of the TV coverage.
Please have a look through our gallery of photos from this very exciting day on the CSBS Facebook page.
