Dancers get a spring in their step!
Our acrobatics and cheer dancers are getting a boost with a grant toward new springboards!
Falkirk Council invited local groups to apply for Community Change Funding and we applied for 2 projects. The first, for 2 Airtrack Airboards which are a new inflatable and portable type of springboard, and the second for money toward ballet lessons in the local nursing home. Both were selected to join the other 10 finalists at the public voting event in Maddiston Community Centre.
CSBS teacher Amanda attended the event and prepared display material to illustrate our plans for both projects. She spoke to a wide range of people including other group leaders, councillors, and Council officials. You can view photos from the event on our Facebook page.
The public were invited to vote for which projects would receive money, and on the day, we were delighted to be announced by Provost Pat Reid as one of the five winners! This means we will be able to buy the Airboards and an electric pump. Our acro students are already excited about the chance to practise their tumbling and aerial skills!
Generation ballet
Our second project was to take ballet into the local Haining Nursing Home. We hope to have students join the elderly residents in seated ballet and also perform for them. Our application also included money toward a Scottish Ballet workshop and theatre trip. Although we did not receive the public vote on the day, the feedback was very positive, and we hope to be able to find another source of funding for this exciting venture... Watch this space!
