Magical performance at Go Dance 12
Go Dance is an annual celebration of dance involving dancers from across Scotland.
The festival showcases professional, amateur and community groups of all ages and abilities in a week of performances in the Theatre Royal, Glasgow. We were delighted to be invited to perform for the fourth consecutive year with our Majors dance students.
Wizrard of Oz
Forty-two of our young dancers performed a shortened version of 'The Wizard of Oz' with a revised cast, including:
- Hayley Fleming as Dorothy
- Rosie Walker as Cowardly Lion
- Lucy Hutton as the Good Fairy
- Paige Lipski as the Tin Man and Kristina Lowe as the Scarecrow
They had an hour onstage in the morning for a technical and dress rehearsal then the chance to spend the afternoon shopping in Glasgow! They were also delighted to receive a Go Dance t-shirt from Mrs Clark as a thank you for all their hard work.
Many thanks to Jemma Sneddon, Emma Brown and Fiona Phillips who helped chaperone the students throughout the day and did an amazing job with quick changes. Also thanks to the parents who helped at the technical rehearsal and to Morna Macleod our liaison from the Creative Learning department who was super helpful.
Denny High Dance Academy
Also performing on the Saturday night were the dancers from Denny High Dance Academy. They performed hip-hop and contemporary dance pieces which were outstanding... and at times very emotional! We are very proud to work in association with the school and hope to further develop our links over the coming year.
