RAD Junior Awards Day winners
Twenty CSBS dance students were accepted into the RAD Scotland Junior Awards Day in Edniburgh.
The Awards Day is open to students currently studying the RAD ballet syllabus from Grades 2-5. Almost 140 young dancers from across Scotland travelled to Dancebase in Edinburgh to participate in the day. They enjoyed workshops in ballet, jazz, cheer dance and musical theatre with guest tutors, including CSBS teacher Amanda who was invited to teach the Musical Theatre workshops.
We were very proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by our students throughout the day. Taking part at each level were:
- GRADE 2: Ailey Meikle
- GRADE 3: Amy Anderson; Catherine Bain; Riona Clifford; Katie McEwan; Anya Phillips; Romy Phillips; Zoe Young
- GRADE 4: Olivia Boath; Jenna Callaghan; Caitlin Carmichael; Lucy Guthrie; Sarah Leslie; Serena McCall; Katy Russell; Eilidh Ryan; Seana Scott
- GRADE 5: Ciara Scott; Holly Taylor; Taylor Young
Ballet class award winners
Parents and teachers were invited to watch the ballet classes which were led by former Scottish Ballet dancer, Lorna Scott. Kenny Burke, Artistic Director of the Dance School of Scotland and former Scottish Ballet dancer, judged each ballet class to pick out the student he thought excelled in the lesson. The standard was very high - Mrs Clark and Sammy watched each class and said that he must have had a really difficult job!
We were delighted to have Riona Clifford announced as the winner of the Grade 3 level class followed by Serena McCall announced as winner for the Grade 4 level class! Both girls were presented with silver trophies by Mr Burke. The excitement continued as Serena was then announced as the overall winner for the whole day and received £200 as a prize!
The other class winners were Edel Makein in Grade 2 from Yvonne Gray Dance Studios and Ellie Fergusson in Grade 5 from Edinburgh Dance Academy.
