Team Scotland at Dance World Cup
A huge congratulations to the CSBS dancers who represented Scotland at the 2016 Bloch Dance World Cup!
Three of our students join the inaugural Team Scotland at the Dance World Cup in Jersey competing alongside over 3000 from another 36 countries! Serena McCall was selected as the flag bearer for Scotland and carried the saltire through the streets of Jersey in the parade leading Team Scotland! Back home in Scotland, we kept up to date with all the news and performances over the full week on a Live Stream and through social media with CSBS teacher Amanda providing regular updates on a special event page where you can still view video clips and photos. (Visit the event page here)
Classical Ballet
Serena competed in the tough Children Classical Solo Pointe section. The standard was breathtaking and we were very proud of her beautiful performance of the 'Esmerelda' variation for which she gained joint 6th place. In preparation for the competition, Serena was also coached by Ballet West Artistic Director Sara-Maria Barton.
Serena also competed as part of a team from Edinburgh Dance Academy and gained two Bronze medals for two small group modern routines.
Hip-hop
Dayna Lipski and Laura Stirling each competed in Junior hip-hop solos as well as with a duet (pictured above with coach Claire). They performed brilliantly and we were very excited when they announced as Bronze medal winners for their duet and Laura placed 5th for her solo!
You can see view a small gallery of the girls at the event on our CSBS Facebook page.
Also performing with EDA was CSBS dancer Amy Anderson from our South Queensferry branch. All the dancers loved the experience and we are already looking forward to being a part of the event next year! Many congratulations to the other schools representing Team Scotland, Edinburgh Dance Academy, G12 studios and McKechnie School of Performing Arts for their great performances and medal wins; Team Scotland won 3 Golds, 2 Silver and 14 Bronze medals as well as 2 fourth and 6 fifth places! Outstanding!
