Choreography Competition 2011
Sequins, hairspray, glitter and funky new dance moves... Our Choreography Competition 2011 was a great success!
Fifty-two young dancers aged 5-17, performed solos, duets and group dances onstage. They had choreographed their own routines in ballet, pointe, character, jazz, hip-hop, tap and acrobatics with their own choice of music and costumes.
We were delighted to welcome as judges, Frances Lalos (Former principal Edinburgh Dance Centre), former CSBS student Beth Donnelly (Team Scotland 2009), and CSBS acrobatics teacher Diane Dagger. They were very impressed by the extremely high standard shown in all the categories, particularly in the ballet and Senior sections.
Medal winners and certificates
Every competitor was presented with a certificate for each routine they had performed, 99 certificates were presented plus an additional one to little Emmy Phillips (4) who was so keen to be onstage like her sisters that she demonstrated a short ballet routine herself! Forty-five medals were presented in total by the judges.
Trophy winners
The Millennium Trophy for the most outstanding performer of the day was awarded to Hayley Fleming (16) (pictured above). The "Spirit of Dance Award" for musicality and performance was awardeded to Mia Musakambeva (13). (Both girls pictured below with the judging panel)
