Pirates Ahoy at Junior Summer School

We welcomed 35 young dancers to our 2015 Dance Maniacs Junior Summer School...

Dance Maniacs Junior

The enthusiastic young dancers aged 7-11 enjoyed 3 days of classes which included a daily technique class in both ballet and jazz as well as workshops in acrobatics and musical theatre. They also had an arts'n'craft session each day to create the scenery, costumes and props for their performance at the end of the course. The theme was 'Pirate Island' and they created a fantastic piece which combined drama, singing, jazz, acro and ballet with a range of piratical moves and tunes! The children also had souvenir t-shirts which were specially deisgned by CSBS teacher Amanda.

CSBS teacher Sammy taught ballet, jazz and acrobatics while Amanda taught ballet, jazz, drama / musical theatre and arts'n'craft. They were assisted by student teacher Amber and class helpers Chloe and Laura.

At the end of the third day, parents arrive to the sounds of the sea, were kidnapped by Pirates and forced through a dark cave to walk the plank! After the performance, each child was presented with a certficate.

Kidnapping an MP...!

For the dress rehearsal, the students kidnapped 2 people from the reception area, only to discover they were actually Martyn Day MP and his communications officer! Mr Day was a great prisoner and our pirates even robbed them both of their pens! He stayed to watch their singing and jazz pieces before having to escape to his next official engagement.
