Spring exam session results

Once again, we have a 100% pass rate for our dance exams this session!

Many congratulations to all our 208 dance exam candidates and their teachers for their effort and hard work preparing for the exams.

We had 122 candidates enter ballet exams at all levels from Pre-Primary to Grade 6 with the Royal Academy of Dance. We are delighted that overall, 1 gained a Pass, 47 were awarded a Merit and 22 passed with Distinction as well as 29 children gaining their Class Award. A very special well done to the 23 Pre-Primary candidates who gained their Class Award which is the first step in the RAD examinations syllabus and to the Grade 6 candidates who ALL gained Distinction! 

The new RAD syllabus is extremely challenging and we have found that the marks for our once-a-week students are generally lower compared to candidates for the old syllabus. So, we have a special well done to the candidates who were awarded over 80% for their Distinction:

• Primary: Dara Kelly 80%
• Grade 4: Lauren Newlands 80%
• Grade 6: Catriona Kemp 91%, Laura Bryson 88%, Nicola Thomson 87%, Rachel Laird 80%, Samantha Kemp 85%

We expect to receive all the certificates, reports and medals in May. If you have not yet received your results, please email us to find out! 

Vocational Ballet Exams

The Vocational Graded Exams are more demanding than the regular grades. We are delighted that the following 8 students gained their Vocational Grade at the following levels:

• Intermediate Foundation: Jenni Allardice (Merit)
• Intermediate with Merit: Rachel Laird, Emma McTeague, Holly Morgan
• Intermediate with Distinction: Andrew Halliday, Lucy Hutton, Sarah MacNeill, Nicola Thomson

A special congratulations to Sarah for gaining 80% and Andrew for gaining 84%. Excellent results everyone!

Tap exam results

We also had 24 students sit their graded tap exams with the ISTD, from Primary to Grade 2 and Grades 5 and 6. Overall, they gained 10 Merit and 14 Distinctions. A special congratulations to the Distinction candidates for their results:

• Primary Grade: Emma Preston 82%, Honor Casely 81%, Elise Johnstone 83%, Lisa Bain 83%, Emma Crawford 80%, Leah Cameron 85%, Lexi Cattanach 87%
• Grade 2: Catherine Bain 81%
• Grade 5: Samantha Niven 85%, Polly Greer 84%, Taylor Young 87%, Anna McEwan 88%
• Grade 6: Keira Paterson 90%, Laura Bryson 87%

Acrobatics

Another 54 candidates sat acrobatics medal tests from First Steps to Premiere Award and British Medallion. Overall, 45 gained Highly Commended which is the highest pass mark in the BATD medal test system! Many congratulations to teacher Diane and all the girls and boys in the acro classes.
