Spring exam session results 2015

Many congratulations to our 240 dance exam candidates who passed their dance exams with great marks in the Spring session!

We were especially impressed this session by the commitment to practise both at home and in attending extra lessons. The marks are strong overall.

RAD ballet exams

We had 155 candidates for the RAD ballet exams, although 4 were absent on the day. Forty little dancers gained their Pre-Primary Class Award which is the first step onto the exam system. Overall the students gained 2 Pass, 71 Merit and 38 Distinctions for their graded exams from Primary to Intermediate Foundation and Grade 7 levels. The points were all lower across the board and only a few students gained over 80% for their Distinctions: 

• Primary grade: Ava Kirkham 80%, Ellie Grimshaw 80%
• Grade 1: Lucy Anderson 80%
• Grade 3: Morgan Campbell 82% (Solo Performance Award)
• Grade 4: Katy Russell 86%, Lucy Guthrie 83%, Sarah Leslie 80%
• Grade 7: Ailsa Robertson 80%
• Intermediate Foundation: Serena McCall 87%

Special congratulations to the 10 candidates from the Dance Academy at Denny High School who gained their Grade 3 Solo Perfromance Award with Merit and Distinction. For most of them, it was their first ever dance exam and they performed beautifully!

BATD acrobatics medal tests

Fifty acrobatics students sat their medal tests from First Steps to British Award level. Overall they gained 3 Commended and 47 Highly Commended results, which is the highest level in the BATD marking system. ISTD tap exam results

Many congratulations to the 35 tap exam students who had worked incredibly hard knowing that we had a tough examiner this session! Overall, the tap candidates gained 3 Pass, 29 Merit and 3 Distinctions. The Merit marks were all generally very high and very well done to the Distinction students:

• Grade 1: Hannah Firth 81%
• Grade 3: Katy Russell 80%, Serena McCall 86%

Although we do have a few exams scheduled for June, we are mostly working toward our summer dance displays so everyone will be keeping up the hard work!
