Students join Scottish Ballet Associate scheme
We are delighted to have 9 students successfully audition for the Scottish Ballet Associate scheme.
Scottish Ballet's acclaimed Associate Programme offers young people the opportunity to appreciate the training being undertaken by professional dancers. This year, 500 young dancers from across Scotland auditioned for the scheme with only 40 new members being selected to join some of the existing students. Due to the competition to get into the course, we are especially proud of our 9 successful dancers! (Eight of our nine dancers are pictured right with CSBS principal Mrs Clark.)
Junior Associates
The Junior Associates programme is for students in P6-7. The course includes ballet, body conditioning, character and creative movement and students often have the opportunity to learn some of Scottish Ballet's repertoire taught by Company dancers. Many congratulations to:
- April Beattie
- Iana Phillips
- Olivia Hunter
Mid Associates
The Mid Associate programme is intended for students in S1-2 who have the talent and focus to pursue a professional career in dance. In addition to the strong classical basis, Mid Associates also study contemporary dance, repertoire, pointework and gyrokinesis. Only 15 young dancers were accepted into the class including our own 4 students:
- Anya Phillips
- Holly Robertson
- Katy Russell
- Riona Clifford
Senior Associates
The culmination of the Associate Programme, Senior Associates continue their classical ballet training with additional classes in contemporary dance, repertoire and gyrokinesis. Preparation for auditions for full-time vocational training is also provided to ensure students are ready to take the next step to a professional dance career. Again, only 15 students are accepted, so well deserved congratulations to:
- Lucy Hutton
- Sarah Leslie
You can view a small gallery of photos of the dancers on our CSBS Facebook page. Well done to all our past and present Associates, it's wonderful that you are able to further develop your ballet training!
