Charlie’s Grand Final success

Huge congratulations to CSBS dancer Charlie for his success in the Dance Inspirations UK Tour Grand Finals in Blackpool.

Charlie (13) qualified for the Grand Finals with both lyrical and jazz solos in the Scottish Heats in November. He was also selected to be in a select “Judges Dance Battle” team under the guidance of choreographer Joel Cooper.

He joined “Team Joel” for a full day of training in Belfast in January. The small team of 5 dancers were chosen from across the UK heats, but he was delighted to meet two more Scottish students in the team from Dunbar School of Dance and DN Dance Studios! Joel coached the group in an upbeat jazz routine ready to perform at the UK finals against two other judges teams.

FINALS PERFORMANCES AND PRIZES

The finals were held over 3 days in Blackpool and included an extra rehearsal with Team Joel. Charlie competed with his lyrical solo, and also a new jazz solo (his first time dancing the new routine!). We are very proud that he placed THIRD for jazz!

The Team Joel routine was amazing and the whole audience was on their feet! We couldn’t believe how mature Charlie’s performance was and we were proud and impressed by the whole group who were outstanding both in their electrifying performance, and also in their support of each other over the whole weekend.

Team Joel didn’t win the Judges Battle… but were our favourite!
