IDTA Theatre Awards
We are delighted to have four dancers nominated for the IDTA Theatre Awards by the examiners during 2024 dance exams. It was our first experience of the Awards and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience! CSBS teacher Sammy chaperoned the group to the event and was able to watch their performances.
Junior dancers Harry (11) and Kara (12) were both nominated for the inaugural Junior Awards workshops. Both candidates gained an impressive 92% in their Grade 2 tap exam in the Spring session. They both participated in a non-competitive tap workshop with a guest tutor and were presented with a certificate of achievement.
Senior dancers Charlie (13) and Jill (16) were both nominated for the Tap Awards for their excellent scores of 95% and 94% respectively in Grade 4 tap in the Spring session. They joined another 68 nominees from across the UK in a very challenging tap workshop and we were very impressed by their performances… especially when BOTH of them were selected as 2 of the 18 finalists! The finals dancers competed for a trophy, and although they didn’t win, they again performed brilliantly and received certificates of achievement.
Jill had also been nominated by the examiner following her Contemporary Modern Jazz exam where she gained 94%. There were a staggering 153 candidates for this genre… and Jill was again selected as one of 40 finalists! What an amazing achievement!
Many thanks to teacher Sammy for chaperoning the dancers over the weekend and to both the IDTA Theatre Awards team, and IDTA Scotland for their support.
Photography was not allowed in the theatre but you can view a small gallery of informal photos from the event on our CSBS Facebook page.
