Falkirk Arts Awards for dance success

Falkirk Council presented awards for Sports and Arts success in a ceremony at Falkirk Town Hall.

The awards are made to local residents who have brought 'merit and distinction to the Falkirk Area' through their achievements in sports and the Arts over the previous year. We were honoured to have been nominated for awards as a school, and also that some of our students received individual recognition for their efforts in 2017. Our teachers were delighted to collect the following awards on behalf of our dancers:

  • BALLET - Central Scotland Ballet School
  • CHEERLEADING - Starshine Senior Cheer
  • DANCE - Starshine Elite Dance Teams
  • DANCE - Starshine Senior Elite

The students receiving individual awards were:

  • Hollie Crooks - Ballet - RAD Senior Awards Runner-up
  • Adela Mayers - Ballet - Soloist with Russian Ballet
  • Ailish Ogilvie - Ballet - RAD Senior Awards winner
  • Iana Phillips - Ballet - Team Scotland Dance World Cup 2017
  • Sarah Firth - Dance - Millennium Trophy winner
  • Serena McCall - Dance - Dance scholarship and competition winner
  • Megan Richards - Dance - Progress Award and Star Performer

Teacher Amanda Clark also received an award in recognition of her service to both Central Scotland Ballet School and the Falkirk District Arts and Civic Council.

Celebrating the Arts

As well as our own dancers, Arts awards were presented for success in photography, floral art, music and writing. We were also able to celebrate more dancers and dance teachers receiving recognition with Team Scotland dancers from McKechnie School of Dance also gaining recognition, and Principal Nadine McKenzie Judge receiving both an Arts award and an award from the Falkrik Sports Council for 'National Service to Sport' for her outstanding achievements in Highland dancing and dance. We were all entertained by singers and dancers from Innov8 dance company and Boness Children's Theatre too! What a wonderful night!

You can view a small gallery of photos from the evening on our CSBS Facebook page.

Many thanks to Falkirk Council, Falkirk Sports Council, and Falkirk District Arts and Civic Council for hosting such a celebratory event.
