IDTA Theatre Awards 2026
We were delighted and excited to have 6 dancers nominated for the 2026 IDTA Theatre Awards in Birmingham. To gain a nomination, exam candidates must achieve a score of 92% or higher, with a minimum of 54% in the technique category. Over 500 candidates from more than 7,500 across the UK are nominated for these prestigious awards and our dancers loved the experience! CSBS teacher Sammy chaperoned some of the group to the event and they had great fun on their road trip!
TAP AWARDS
Nominated for the Tap Awards was dancer Heidi Russell (15), and for the second year running dancers Charlie Fleming (14) and Jill Russell (17) , alongside another 94 dancers from across the UK! Charlie and Jill had each gained 95% and 94% respectively for their Grade 5 Tap exam last year, and Heidi had gained 92% for Grade 4 tap.
Extra congratulations to Charlie who was selected for the final group of 27 competitors!
CONTEMPORARY MODERN JAZZ
We only began teaching the new Contemporary Modern Jazz syllabus 2 years ago and were very excited to have 4 dancers nominated for the Awards… alongside a staggering 179 nominees from across the UK!!!
Well done to Georgia Rosenfeld (16), Rachel Higgins (15), and Ava Green (15) who each passed their Grade 4 CMJ exam with 92%, and 94%, and also to Jill who had gained 96% for her Grade 5 CMJ. This was the second year that Jill had been nominated.
They all danced well, but we have special congratulations for Ava who made it through to the finals alongside another 35 competitors!
THANK YOU…
Thanks again to CSBS teacher Sammy for supervising our dancers at the event, and to the committee at IDTA Scotland for their support and encouragement right from our exam preparation to being at the event. We are delighted that a Scottish dancer WON the Theatre Craft Award on the previous day too; congratulations to Leon from JHM Dance!
You can view some photos of the group (including a few from the road trip!) on our CSBS Facebook page. Unfortunately no photography was allowed during the event, but there are some ‘behind-the-scenes’ pictures to enjoy! The dancers are feeling determined to qualify again in their upcoming exams!
