Junior Summer School 2018

Thirty young dancers enjoyed 3 intensive days of dance in our DanceStars Junior Summer School.

The dancers aged 7-11 worked really hard in the 3 energetic and fun days of dance classes which included daily technique lessons in both ballet and jazz as well as workshops in acrobatics, drama and musical theatre, and even Chinese! They also had a daily arts'n'craft session to create the scenery and props for their performance at the end of the course. Our 2018 theme was "CHINA" and they created a fantastic piece which combined elements of drama, singing, jazz, acro and ballet alongside some traditional Chinese song and dance..

CSBS teacher Sammy taught ballet, jazz and acrobatics while Amanda taught ballet, drama / musical theatre and arts'n'craft. We did not have a course assistant but must thank Lucy and Emily fro droppping in to help in some classes..

At the end of the third day, the children received a souvenir t-shirt for the performance. The audience were greeted by a chinese market scene with fish and noodle vendors, tai chi, and even a laundry, before being entertained by jazz, ballet and singing routines based on the theme. The dancers had made hat and fans as props, and the hall was decorated with their artwork.

Every dancer was presented with a specially designed certficate of attendance while they received lots of applause!
