Magic of Hollywood with Pasha

Twenty-five of our young dancers performed as part of the Pasha Kovalev 2018 UK tour "Magic of Hollywood"!

The Strictly star is touring the UK with his stunning dance show and we were invited to perform in his Falkirk show. The show at Falkirk Town Hall was a sell-out with an enthusiastic audience of around 520 people, which even included Judy Murray! 

Our dancers performed two 7 minute long routines, a 'Chart Medley' and a 'DisneyMedley'. The routines were introduced onstage by Pasha who had also given them feedback during their technical rehearsal onstage, and he also joined them for part of one of the numbers alongside his partner Anya.

Rehearsals and choreography

The group of dancers started the Easter break with an initial dance workshop with CSBS teacher Amanda to try out the two different styles of dance and to start working together. They then had 4 intensive rehearsals to set the choreography and rehearse the pieces as well as organising costumes before heading to the technical rehearsal at the theatre. The choreography was quite unusual as it included a wide range of dance styles for the students to master; from ballet, jazz and hip-hop to jive, charleston, seventies and even Polynesian! 

At the technical rehearsal they met tour manager Mike Newman and dancer Pasha who took time to speak to them all and give them feedback about their rehearsal. we were able to get some great photos of the rehearsal and backstage. Performance

The performance was brilliant (with all our spacing issues fixed from the rehearsal!) and the audience were cheering, gasping, laughing and applauding as the students danced, flipped, tumbled and had great fun throughout the numbers.
