Project Dance 2024
Thirty dancers aged 11-18 joined our Project Dance Summer School in Bo’ness Town Hall for a 4 day intensive dance course. They had a challenging schedule of 6 lessons each day with guest tutors from across Scotland. Huge thanks to the tutors for both pushing and encouraging the students throughout the week!
Kelly McCole (Ballet; Repertoire)
Kristina Lowe (Warm-up; Jazz)
Ross Logan (Tap; Contemporary)
Sammy Clark (Repertoire)
Aimee McCallum (Commercial)
Lynsey Kelly (Commercial)
David Sharp (MT repertoire)
You can view galleries of some brilliant photos from the lessons to give you an idea of the work involved each day. Please grab a cuppa and have a look through!
It was also lovely to welcome former CSBS students now in full-time training into the classes. Ailish joined us from Hamilton Theatre Arts, Hannah dropped in from Dance For All College, and Anna and Iana came for ballet from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
PERFORMANCE AND PRESENTATION
On the fourth and final day, the three groups cam together for a short ‘rehearsal’ where they were able to show their class work to the other dancers, before a short sharing of work for an audience of parents and family members. You can view the rehearsal photos in a CSBS Facebook album.
Each group showcased 2 exercises from their ballet class, a piece of classical repertoire, 2 contemporary technical exercises, and a short jazz routine. It is not a performance based course… but everyone performed brilliantly!
Finally, every dancer was presented with a certificate in recognition of their effort. The faculty had also selected dancers to receive “Star Performer Awards” and these were presented to:
GROUP 1: Harry Fleming and Amy Taylor
GROUP 2: Evie Wilson and Robert Paterson
GROUP 3: a special mention was given for the only 3 dancers in the group
THANKS…
Many thanks again to the faculty! We also have thanks for the caretakers, Colin and Fraser, for ensuring we were safe in the building and for helping us set up each day. Our fabulous Project Dance t-shirts were created by the team at Clic Clothing. And thanks to teachers Amanda and Sammy for running the course. Amanda was also responsible for designing the certificates and t-shirts, AND taking/processing all the hundreds of photos each day!
