Top marks for Spring exams!

With a record number of dance exam candidates in the Spring session, we were delighted by the results!

Although we had 276 candidates, 12 were absent on their examination day. The rest gained impressive results, with 60% of graded exam candidates gaining Distinction!

RAD Ballet Exams

One hundred and fifty candidates entered for ballet exams with the Royal Academy of Dance from Pre-Primary to Intermediate level with a total of 1 Pass, 63 Merit and 46 Distinctions as well as 36 students gaining their Class Award at Pre-Primary, Primary and Grade 4 level. 

A special congratulations to the 16 Vocational candidates this session who gained their Intermediate Foundation and Intermediate exams with Merit and Distinction!

Solo Performance Awards

The Solo Performance Awards are a new type of examinations offered by the RAD. Candidates must perform 3 solos in front of the examiner. We entered a small group of students who regularly attend more than one graded ballet class a week.Many congratulations to:

• Grade 4 Solo Performance Award - Eve Cattanach, Emma Hurry, Katie Morely, Kirstin Richards
• Grade 5 Solo Performance Award  - Serena McCall

The RAD exams are increasingly demanding and the standard required to even pass is incredibly high, which is why we are always so delighted with all our exam candidates! We have special congratulations to the students who were awarded over 80% for their Distinctions:

We also had another 31 students sit a graded tap exam with the ISTD from Primary to Grade 6 levels. Overall, they gained 1 Pass, 23 Merit and 8 Distinctions.

Acrobatics Medal Tests

We had a staggering 87 candidates sit their acrobatics exams this session. Overall, 4 gained Commended (equivalent to Merit) and 83 gained Highly Commended (equivalent to Distinction) for First Steps all the way up to the Premier Award!
