Dancers chosen for Team Scotland

Five dancers from Central Scotland Ballet School have been selected to represent Scotland at the International Cheer Union Dance World Championships in Florida.

Beth Donnelly, Hayley Fleming, Kristina Lowe, Jemma Sneddon and Rosie Walker were selected from hundreds of hopefuls at rigorous auditions by Scotland's governing body for cheerleading, Scotcheer. They will make up part of the 16-strong team and spend the next few weeks training with Scotcheer in preparation for a week-long choreographic session with tutors from the USA.

The team will travel to Florida in April to compete against 82 other countries.

STARSHINE cheerleaders

Hayley, Jemma and Kristina (pictured below with coach, Claire Smith) are also members of STARSHINE cheerleaders and will be competing in their second Scottish competition in only a few weeks. Their coach, Claire Smith, has represented Scotland at many cheer and dance events across the UK and internationally.

STARSHINE first began classes in January 2009. The team trains on Saturdays in Falkirk with classes for 6-9, 9-11 and 12+. In their first competition last year, they won medals in every section that they entered! Find out more about cheer training with STARSHINE.
