#morethanjustballet at the Helix

We were delighted to perform in the Helix family day...

The Big Picnic saw THOUSANDS of people come and spend the day in Helix Park and enjoy a wide range of activities and entertainment from local groups including music, drama, singing and dancing. We were delighted to be a part of the event and created a new dance piece to showcase just some of the dance styles we teach at CSBS.

#morethanjustballet

Our piece was entitled #morethanjustballet and showed off the talents of our dancers in ballet, acro, jazz, hiphop and lyrical. Although we had opened the invitation to perform to all our students, only 25 came along to take part... And they did brilliantly! They rehearsed and adapted a few dance display routines, some little ones learned a new routine, dancer Serena performed an excerpt of a routine learned in LA, and they all had to learn some new choreography AND rehearse the whole piece. All that was done in a one hour rehearsal just before the performance!!! Outstanding work by the teachers and students!

Throughout the day, we used the hashtag on our social media and included it on our fliers at the event too. The performance was great fun and the dancers drew a huge crowd who even got to join in at the end! See a gallery of photos on our CSBS Facebook page.

Dancers of all ages...

The 24 dancers came from all our branches and were all different levels. It was lovely to see them work together and make new friends too.

Please watch the piece below or on our YouTube channel. Thanks again to everyone who came along to support the event!
