Anya steps into Dance School of Scotland
This week, we say goodbye to Anya as she begins her training at the Dance School of Scotland...
Anya Phillips (12) will move into the residential accomodation to begin her 5 or 6 training at Scotland's national training academy alongside another 15 students selected from rigorous auditions. The Dance School of Scotland is part of Knightswood Secondary School where Anya will have academic studies as well as around 4 hours of daily dance training.
Award winning dancer
Anya is a very popular member of our school and has already achieved great success in her dance training with Central Scotland Ballet School including outstanding exams results, competition success, and awards. She has won our Vicki Paterson Junior Award for Excellence for the highest exam mark for 4 consecutive years since it's inception, and has also been awarded the 'Spirit of Dance' Award at our annual choreography competition. Most recently she was awarded the 'Star Performer Award' at our Project Dance Summer School. Anya has also represented CSBS at RAD Awards days, on STV Appeal live, and with Starshine Elite as a member of our competitive dance teams.
She complements her training with additional lessons as part of the Scottish Ballet Associate scheme, Ballet West Associates and the Royal Conservatoire associate scheme. She has performed in the touring production of 'The Nutcracker' with Scottish Ballet, and in 'Romeo and Juliet' with Ballet West, as well as a variety of musical theatre productions with local amateur dramatics groups and children's theatre.
Earlier this year, Anya reached the finals of the 'Scotland on Stage Awards' for the 'Most Promising Young Dancer' in Scotland!
We wish her all the best for her career and look forward to following it as she grows as a dancer!
