RAD Scotland Junior Awards 2018

We were delighted to have 5 students accepted onto the RAD Junior Awards Day 2018...

The bi-annual event is a wonderful day of dance involving over 100 young ballet dancers from across Scotland. It is open to dancers studying the graded syllabus from the RAD. They are judged in a ballet class with an audience present, but also get to enjoy dance workshops in a wide variety of styles. This year they had Highland with Elayne Seaton, Progressing Ballet Technique with Dawn Ulivi, and Forties with Lisa Kennedy!

Each dance school is allocated spaces by the RAD administrator; we applied on behalf of all our Majors students and selected Distinction candidates, gaining 5 places in total. Well done to:

  • Grade 2 - Jill Russell
  • Grade 4 - Ailish Ogilvie
  • Grade 5 - Ailey Meikle, Hollie Crooks, Sarah Firth

While CSBS teacher Amanda volunteered as a chaperone, our Principal Mrs Clark joined the audience and enjoyed a lovely day of ballet. She was extremely proud of the performances by our candidates, and said that they stood out in their categories for their strong technique and poise.

Prize winner

We have a special congratulations for Grade 4 dancer Ailish who was awarded the 'Terry Darke Memorial Cup for Musicality' for the entire day.

Ailish also won a performance award at the 2016 Junior Awards Day, and a class Shield at the 2017 Senior Awards day... Brilliant work Ailish!

Many thanks to Jennifer MacFarlane (RAD Scotland) for organising such a great day which brings together so many teachers and dancers. We all loved it!
