Summer ballet exam session

We had a very small session of ballet exams one week after the annual dance displays.

As the exams fell one week after our dance displays run, we had to arrange a few extra lessons in advance of the exam day. (The students had ben working mostly on their display routines over the past 8 weeks.) Only 25 candidates entered for an exam over the one day. We had 10 little stars from the Grangemouth branch sit their Pre-Primary Class Award, the first step into the RAD exam syllabus, as well as 2 little Grade 1 candidates, a single Grade 3 candidate and 2 Grade 7 candidates.

Grade 8 Award

We were very proud to have 5 students entering for their RAD Grade 8 Award. This is the final graded exam in the RAD syllabus and for most of the girls, their last exam before leaving CSBS! Well done to Amber, Dayna, Emma, Eva and Sarah.

Solo Performance Awards

Two students sat a Solo Performance Award which is a new exam option offered by the RAD. Each candidate performs 3 solo routines for the examiner in a simple costume; at least 2 of the routines must be from the relevant graded syllabus, and the third can be a set syllabus dance or a dance in any style of your choice! Catherine Bain (13) sat the Grade 3 Solo Performance Award, while Serena McCall (11) sat the Grade 4 level. This is the first time we have entered any of our own students for the Award and we are looking forward to receiving the results so that we can perhaps offer this as another exam option to our students in the future.

You can view a small gallery of photos from the exam day on our CSBS Facebook page.

The target date for all results is 10 July... Fingers and toes crossed!
