Majors Ballet Programme proves very popular...

Our Majors ballet programme offers training to talented young dancers in the RAD Vocational graded syllabus.

As the syllabus is both physically and mentally demanding, we audition for entry into the first level, Intermediate Foundation. This year, a staggering 50 young dancers auditioned for the programme!

They performed a ballet class in front of a panel of 4 teachers who had the difficult task of assessing their technique, flexibility, musicality and overall performance. Each candidate receives an individual report based on their performance on the day with recommendations for their further dance training. students already in the programme must re-audition annually to assess their progress.

Success...

The Majors programme has proved very successful over the past few years, with students gaining excellent marks in their Vocational exams including Advanced. Many students have gained places on prestigious Associate schemes, short courses and in full-time ballet schools.

One of the highlights for the students is being part of the mini-ballet which is performed in every performance of our annual dance display and in Go Dance at the Theatre Royal. Rehearsals are intensive and demanding but always great fun!

Well done to all the young dancers who auditioned this year... Letters will be in the post very soon!
