Can You Dance? Glasgow 2019

Our Starshine Elite dancers attended the Can You Dance? convention in Glasgow alongside hundreds of young dancers.

The convention included a wide range of dance masterclasses, a showcase of dance colleges and organisations, and a competition. It attracted dancers from across the UK who were keen to learn from some of the industry's top professionals. 

Prizes and award in the masterclasses

Tutors and talent scouts picked out dancers from the masterclasses for special awards and we are especially delighted for:

  • APRIL BEATTIE chosen for select group in Sam Parry’s Contemporary class
  • MIA, SARAH and ELLIE chosen for select group in Ainsley Ricketts Contemporary class
  • APRIL BEATTIE received CYD Intensive scholarship for Musical Theatre
  • SARAH FIRTH received CYD Intensive Scholarship and Dancer of the year nomination for Contemporary
  • ELLIE STENTON received CYD Intensive Scholarship for Contemporary
  • NINA D'AMBROSIO received the dancer of the year nomination for Commercial
Dance competition

Part of the day was a team dance competition. Our Senior and Junior Elite dance teams competed against some quite outstanding groups. Many congratulations to the Juniors for gaining 2nd Place and a place in the UK Grand Finals!
