Choreography Competition success

We were very excited to hold our 2023 Choreography Competition with over 50 dancers taking part! It was staged in the beautiful Reconnect Regal Theatre and both the dancers and the audience loved the venue.

Fifty-one dancers aged 2-17 (and one adult) took to the stage to perform routines they had created themselves in a wide range of dance styles including ballet, acrobatics, musical theatre, jazz, and tap, with an audience of family and friends and a small panel of guest judges.

LITTLE STARS SECTION

As well as the competitive sections, we loved seeing the “Little Stars” section where we had 3 little ones take to the stage, and a daughter-dad duet too! Each performer received a certificate and small trophy. Very well done to all of them!

PRIZES and AWARDS

There were 102 routines performed throughout the day and every dancer was presented with a certificate for each routine they performed. The certificates were presented by CSBS Director, Mrs Jacqueline Clark. At the end of the day, there was a prize giving ceremony with 130 medals presented and additional trophies for highest points in each section:

  • HIGHEST POINTS - BALLET - Jill Russell (14)

  • HIGHEST POINTS - ACROBATICS - Hannah Firth (16)

  • HIGHEST POINTS - TAP - Charlie Fleming (11)

  • HIGHEST POINTS - COMMERCIAL - Georgia Rosenfeld and Rachel Higgins DUET (13)

  • HIGHEST POINTS - JAZZ - Hannah Firth and Chloe Murray DUET (16)

Additional trophies were presented by the judges for ‘Best Newcomer’, “Spirit of Dance”, and the “Millennium Trophy” for best overall. Huge congratulations to those winners!

  • BEST NEWCOMER - Leia MacDonald (9)

  • SPIRIT OF DANCE AWARD - Amelia Lowe (10)

  • MILLENNIUM TROPHY for best overall - Hannah Firth (16)

IMPROVISATION TROPHY

We also held an elimination style improvisation section where dancers of all ages took to the stage to dance without having prepared a routine. It was wonderful to watch with both senior and junior dancers really ‘feeling’ the music and supporting each other onstage! Every competitor received a pin badge. The judges whittled it down to 6 finalists with one overall winner being presented the trophy sponsored by Falkirk Arts Network…

  • FAN IMPROVISATION AWARD - Ava Green (12)

Huge thanks to everyone who helped run the day so successfully, most especially our guest judges Amy Campbell and Ashleigh McGeorge, CSBS teachers Sammy, Hayley and Samantha for running the day, technician Craig for sound and lighting, and CSBS teacher Amanda for organising the event, taking photos, and designing our certificates and medals!

We hope even more of our dancers will take part in the fun next year!
