Brilliant Braes dance display!
Our fifth and final performance of our 2026 dance display, “Welcome to Hollywood” was by our Braes branch dancers. The 80 dancers and 40 majors students showcased their skills in ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics. The younger dancers aged 2-8 performed a day earlier in a matinée show; you can read about the junior dancers and their show here.
As well as the class routines, the Senior Elite team performed a great jazz number inspired by Austin Powers, and our 2026 Millennium trophy winner Charlie performed his own solo lyrical choreography.
Sisters Heidi and Jill performed a medal-winning lyrical duet they had choreographed themselves… a lovely way to end Jill’s time at CSBS as she moves to university. Jill is our most advanced dancer, and one of only a few to gain Advanced 1 ballet with CSBS.
CSBS Teacher Amanda took photos during the dress rehearsal, and you can view the album on our CSBS Facebook page. Professional photos were also taken and these will be available to view soon on the Leask Photography website (password protected).
END OF THE 2026 SHOWS…
At the end of the show, we were delighted to present special exam awards in the Finalé (more news to follow!).
As the curtain came down, there were a LOT of tears, as we said goodbye to our leavers, most of whom have been with us for 14 years. We hope they will keep in touch and keep dancing at university, before hopefully return for some adult classes soon! A special good luck wish to Violet as she leaves for full-time training in London; we are excited to follow her career!
Extra special thanks to dancer Charlotte for BSL interpreting the speech in the Finalé without any rehearsal… there were a LOT of names to spell at speed!
Huge thanks again to the team of CSBS teachers and volunteer chaperones for their continued support and organisation throughout the show - they each did a remarkable job! Thanks too to the technical team Greig (lights), and the Macrobert crew (sound), for their expert skills!
